Replaying F.E.A.R and just saw an ad for a Dell XPS 700. Talk about a blast from the past

This game scared the hell out of me as a kid.

F.E.A.R gave me trust issues with ladders in video games.

That ladder… I’ll never forget it.

I tried this at a net café, playing between Dota and CoD matches. That ladder moment was brutal.

@Finnian
Now I’m curious… what’s the deal with this ladder?

You’ll see. There’s a reason everyone remembers the ladder.

You have to play it. Watching it on YouTube doesn’t do it justice.

Exactly. Watching doesn’t count. You need to experience the ladder.

I bought the trilogy on Steam a while back, I guess it’s time to finally play it.

@Wilder
It’s not just the ladder… the whole game does pacing really well. There are these long quiet stretches, but you know something is coming. Keeps you on edge the entire time.

The ladder was freaky, but young me was terrified by the slow-motion skeleton in the blood room.

That ladder and the sliding glass door in the second game… pure nightmare fuel.

Ladders in Skies of Arcadia scarred me. The hero would climb so slowly, and the ladders felt endless. Then Tales of Arise did the same thing.

@Vale
Oh, Skies! An old friend of mine named Pat did art for that game.

Loved the game, despite the ladders! :grin:

@Vale
What a thrill!

I was an adult and it still messed me up.

I bought all 3 games but barely got 15 minutes into the first one. I heard a child laughing and noped out real quick.

I just finished the whole series last month. The gunplay and AI blew me away.
