I just finished the whole series last month. The gunplay and AI blew me away.
The NPCs use an AI system called Goal Oriented Action Planning (GOAP), where they’re given tasks and figure out how to accomplish them on their own. It made them really unpredictable, but it caused trouble for the cutscenes because the NPCs would do weird things during them.

If you like F.E.A.R, check out Trepang2 and Selaco. Both are heavily inspired by it. I’m glad indie devs are reviving that style of gameplay.
I knew about Trepang2 but not Selaco. Thanks for the recommendation!

@Dru
Very close! It blends horror and action, with human enemies, slow-mo, and melee combat. The enemies call out to each other, much like in F.E.A.R. The big difference is that Trepang2 is more fast-paced, similar to DOOM 2016.

Back in the day, my friend and I went by ‘Punch’ and ‘Kick’ in multiplayer, dominating everyone using only melee attacks. Good times!
Holstering your weapon let you run faster, and slides and kicks were one-hit kills. You could absolutely tear through people. F.E.A.R Combat was a blast.
I beat F.E.A.R 1 and 2 a couple of weeks ago. The first one was incredible! The second was decent but lost the vibe of the original. Haven’t tried the third yet, but from the trailer, it looks like more of the same.
I had a Dell XPS back in the day. It had a TV tuner card, a separate hard drive for recording shows, and Windows Media Center was basically a DVR with a TV guide. Only problem was that it would randomly forget to record the audio on some recordings.
