Is DayZ actually a good game now or not?

If you like random deaths in a walking sim, then yeah, it’s for you.

Pretty accurate.

90% walking, looting, exploring… 10% random encounters, and usually it’s either chill people or backstabbers.

@Hollis
Depends on the server. I play as a trader on a Western-themed server, so I get a lot of encounters.

Servers change the game completely. Vanilla is hardcore; lots of people roleplay there.

How’s it on console?

Not as good as PC. Console players miss out on a lot.

Is it still a struggle to get through doorways?

Sounds like DayZ and Hell Let Loose have a lot in common then.

So it’s like GTA RP?

Depends on where you play. I quit a while back but am now on a PVE server. Last time I enjoyed a game this much was when Half-Life first dropped.

The modded servers with better gun balance are way more fun. Tried a server called Rearmed once, pretty balanced.

That’s what I thought, lol.

Game just hit a peak player count with the new update. Still buggy, not really polished, but it’s improved. Animations are clunky, and zombies still act goofy, but it’s good fun with friends if you’re not too serious about it.

@Skyler
Got about 800 hours on this game. Hardest part is sticking with friends after one dies, as regrouping is such a pain.

Playing solo is better if you’re serious about it, but messing around with friends is still a good laugh.

@Skyler
Tried with a friend once… we died of hunger before we even found each other!

Move inland for better loot. Try the iZurvive map app – helps with navigation a lot.

I’ve had a lot of fun with it.

Just started… my advice:

  1. Try a vanilla server first.

  2. Don’t rely on modded servers too much, it spoils the base game.

  3. If you go modded, choose ones with traders or unique gun spawns.

  4. Use the iZurvive map app, but don’t overdo it.

  5. You’ll die a lot… accept it.

  6. Don’t trust anyone easily.

  7. Zombies are great for food early game, get used to fighting them.

Good luck!
