What’s the toughest gaming challenge you’ve attempted?

Looking for some fun ideas to make the games we love more exciting. Here’s my contribution:

In The Long Dark, you’re stuck in a tough winter where the Northern lights cause a massive geomagnetic storm that makes technology useless. You have to survive by scavenging for food and weapons. Here’s my challenge for you:

On Custom difficulty with generous item frequency (you’ll always find food and weapons), the wildlife is extremely aggressive. Your job is to survive for a whole week without dying. Tough, right?

What’s your challenge?

Trying Legendary All Skulls On in any of Bungie’s Halo games sounds brutal!

Haha, good luck with that one!

How about Dark Souls with just fists? I can’t even survive with a shield and sword! Mad respect to anyone who can do that!

The tutorial in Driver for PS1. Honestly, it was a nightmare.

Thanks for reminding me about my suppressed trauma from that game.

Getting the true ending in Hollow Knight. It’s tough but so rewarding.

Might sound niche, but Football Manager has so many challenges like youth-only teams or only using Basque players.

I’m currently on my second speedrun of Alien: Isolation on nightmare mode, no mods or cheats. This time, I’m not killing any androids or humans.

Post a Nintendo game walkthrough without getting striked.

Try killing the Lich without dying in Enter the Gungeon on a clean save. I got close, but might give it another go next year.

Why not just play The Long Dark on Interloper? It’s the hardest survival mode by far, no need to mess with settings.

Exactly! Also, the Northern Lights didn’t cause the conditions; it was a mysterious geomagnetic storm.

Between trapping the butler in the freezer and deleting the pool ladder in The Sims 1, I never went full psychopath, surprisingly.

Try the Nuka Shine challenge in Fallout 76. Go naked, stash your weapons, black out, then try to find your way home without using the map. It’s way more fun with friends!

Isn’t that the one where you fail, throw your joypad across the room, and yell at the screen?

Handgun-only runs in Resident Evil games make the game so much more immersive for me.

Stealth games are fun when you try to complete them without being seen or killing anyone. Games like Dishonored and Deus Ex reward you for that, though you’ll be reloading a lot.
