The only remake we really need

Honestly, even though I loved that game back in the day, I am getting tired of all the remasters. It feels like companies are running out of fresh ideas for games. They just keep remastering old titles to make easy money, knowing they will sell well, instead of creating something new or better after all these years.

A remaster and a remake are not the same thing. But, as remasters are frequently contracted out, the developers are not much hindered in their ability to work on other games.

Remakes fall into the same category, honestly. It seems like a lot of these projects are outsourced while developers focus on patches, DLCs, and remasters just to keep things running. Meanwhile, it takes them 5-10 years to release anything new. It is disappointing to see how many once-great game companies have declined in recent years. Not trying to start a debate, just sharing how sad it is to see this trend.

Take Final Fantasy VII from 1997 and Final Fantasy VII, Remake from 2020 as an example, calling it a remake implies it is built from the ground up, unlike a remaster which is often just a quick and easy reskin. That said, I think many companies turn to remakes and remasters because, as games become more realistic, they also become much harder and more expensive to develop. This is why you sometimes see indie games offering more content than some AAA titles.

I genuinely hope that Path of Neo gets remade in the next generation. The game was really fantastic. and with next-generation capabilities, it would be much better.

That would be cool. I’ve only played Enter The Matrix and never got around to The Path of Neo.

You got to play as Neo throughout the trilogy, which was fantastic, bro.
