Resident Evil creator says a good remake means knowing what "made the original work"... also admits RE4’s "half-assed" story took only 2 weeks!?

Am I the only one who actually liked RE3 remake?

Same! Only thing that bugged me was how short it was, but I got it for $5, so I was happy. Loved the dodge mechanic too.

It was decent, but could’ve been so much more. They didn’t even give us Jill’s RPD section because they boxed themselves in with RE2 remake’s storyline.

Enjoyed RE3 remake, though I hadn’t played the original. Maybe that’s why I liked it.

@Scout
Once you play the original, you might notice what’s missing.

Such a weird experience. The game starts out so strong in the city, then just falls apart after the sewer. Almost like they ran out of budget or something. How do they nail RE2 and RE4 but drop the ball so hard with RE3?

@Zinn
The RE3 remake was done by a different studio. RE2 and RE4 remakes were in-house by Capcom, and it shows.

RE2 remake felt like a near-perfect game. RE3 felt more like a DLC, but that was fine by me. Got it for about $20, so no complaints.

I don’t think anything will beat that moment in Code Veronica where you think the game’s over… and then it’s not. If they remake that, new players are in for a surprise!

I just want RE5 remake so I can keep yelling SHEVA SHEVA SHEVA SHEVA SHEVA COME ON!

Not sure what everyone expected from RE3 remake. The original was always short and meant to feel more like an add-on to RE2. Code Veronica is the real sequel we need remade.

@Amari
People have been clear about what they didn’t like in the remake: cut locations, missing boss fights, scripted Nemesis scenes, and more.

@Amari
If it was meant as an expansion, they should’ve sold it as one. It’s not even as long as the original.

@Amari
Yeah, OG was short but the remake cut even more content. The story paths and exploration made the original worth replaying.

RE3 remake is only about an hour shorter than the original for most people. Around 6 hours vs. 7 hours.

These games were designed with speedruns in mind.

Longer games can be made shorter too. Lack of effort is just lack of effort.

You were fast! My first run was over 4 hours.

Wait… the whole story in 2 weeks? That’s hilarious!
