I gave this game a shot when it first came out and just didn’t like it. It didn’t grab me at all, and I found it boring. But recently, I decided to try it again since I’ve been into shooters lately, and wow… I’m hooked! After about 3 hours, I started to really see what it’s about, and now I think it’s amazing. That’s pretty much it.
Man, I was hooked right away. Played it non-stop for a week and beat it. It was a blast.

I played it for a few days, did about 10 loops, then realized I had to do things in a certain order for it to work. By then, I was already kind of burnt out from redoing everything just to try to get it right. Maybe I’ll pick it up again later.
@Ashby
I get that. For me, figuring out the order was fun, but the gunplay and the loop itself were what really kept me going.

The part that really annoyed me was when I figured out the loop before the game told me how to do it. I was doing everything right, but I didn’t get the ending because I hadn’t triggered the part of the story that lets you finish it. It felt like I was punished for paying attention to the game instead of waiting for it to hold my hand.
@Max
Yeah, that makes sense. I can see how that would be frustrating.
@Max
Exactly! It sucked. Arkane is known for letting you figure things out, but then the game kept blocking me with scripted story events. I was coming from Prey (2019), so it was a huge letdown. I really want to go back and try the game again with the Golden Guns update, but I’m still kind of scarred from that experience.
@Max
I didn’t have that happen, but I see what you’re saying. After playing Outer Wilds, where you have to figure everything out yourself, Deathloop felt way more linear. It was like the game was always telling me what to do next, so I didn’t have to struggle. I guess it’s not great when the game doesn’t let you figure things out before you’re supposed to.

The gunplay was awesome, and I had great frame rates on PC. I just needed a break and haven’t come back to it yet.
@Ashby
I think this is the worst part of the game. If it had multiple ways to finish the loop, it would be way more fun and have better replay value.

I played through the whole game in about 40 hours, barely taking breaks. It was kind of a wild binge, I remember it fondly.
@Sam
Haha, we’ve all been there!

I thought the game was fun and a neat idea, but it also felt repetitive and small at times. Still, I had fun with it.

I kind of agree. When it started to feel repetitive, it was right around when I finished the game. It seemed like they knew when to end it.
@Porter
Yeah, you’re right. The last few loops were kind of annoying. It was fun, but I felt like something was missing. Maybe it was the hype from paying $70 at launch, especially since it was PS5’s first exclusive not on PS4. In the end, though, the story was good enough that I still remember a lot of the lore.
Finished the game, but it felt pretty average. I felt lied to by all the 10/10 reviews. It was just… meh.
It’s fun at first, but after exploring every way to take down your targets, it gets a bit dull. Losing stuff doesn’t really matter by the time you get to the final target.
Deathloop was fun when I first played it, but it doesn’t feel like a game I’ll love forever. I had a good time figuring everything out, but once I did, it just wasn’t fun anymore. I couldn’t even get myself to go through the last loop and finish the game. I got about 95% of the way through but still haven’t beaten it.
