I thought I'd get a turn-based JRPG with funny combat skills, but instead, I found a well-written crime drama with memorable characters. (Yakuza: Like a Dragon)

Very hard game.

Every game in the series is really fun. Very tedious trophies though.

It’s wild that they attached a whole game to a property management simulator that I put around 20 hours into.

Totally agree, it is a fun turn that I originally didn’t expect for Yakuza/Like a Dragon, but it worked well.

Probably the best story in the whole franchise.

Yeah, this game’s a gem for any JRPG fans. It has so much packed into it and really brought me into the LAD series.

The Yakuza series has always been remarkably silly yet serious at the same time. They’re fantastic. The Lost Judgment games are pretty good too. Edit: Looking forward to see what the Amazon TV Show does with it at the end of the month!

I really love how the Yakuza games develop characters. Underneath all the weirdness is a really wholesome and sincere story. It’s a genius balance. Love that these games have become such perfect hits. For me, they’re kind of perfect games - entertaining, sometimes addictive gameplay while also being really cool story adventures.

Wish I could play the turn-based Yakuza games, but they’re just not my thing.

Hoping to play it someday. This game is really memorable in terms of memes, hahahah.

If you have a chapter 14 save file with a lot of good items and lots of done (if not all) side quests, please send it to me because I lost my almost 100% chapter 14 save and can’t finish the game!

Yep. I played Like a Dragon after trying the former titles and liking the style, but I’m not a fan of beat 'em ups. Imagine my surprise to find it’s basically just a Dragon Quest game in a different car.

I’ll be very honest, there was an extremely long sewer level that kind of broke me, and the story about the prostitutes was just not interesting. I know I should’ve stuck with it because it will get interesting, but I couldn’t.

@Cove
Story about the prostitutes? I recall that didn’t go on for too long, but I’m not sure.

It was so long and boring. The fake cash part where you end up in the sewers was also meh. Each part just didn’t hit for me. The pace was too slow.

So in your opinion, an average JRPG is not allowed to have a well-written story?

Not at all what he said.

You’ll enjoy games much more when you don’t follow guides or opinions.
