Man, I loved the survival mode. My friend and I called the cops “super cops” because they were impossible to wreck, and they were so fast! We figured out we could cheese it by going to a hilltop in the San Francisco map and watching the cops fly over us, wrecking themselves on the way down.
@Remy
I think it was the San Francisco map too. The cops would fly over the hills, and sometimes they’d land on a car and get launched into the air. It was like a Michael Bay movie, so fun!
@Remy
Yes! I used the same strategy in San Francisco. It kind of ruins the survival mode when all the cops are wrecked and you can just wait forever…

I used to find places where you could crash and glitch out of bounds. I told my parents I was exploring. It was awesome.
Good stuff
No other game has ever captured the vibe of this one. I spent hours with my cousin doing crazy police chases. We even had a replay mode where we edited the best chase sequences into mini movies.

A great way to bond with family, huh?
Wait, this game wasn’t just a parking garage?

I spent most of my time in the garage though, haha.
Nostalgia is a powerful thing. I remember thinking the graphics were so good back then.

The way it all works is so confusing. I still don’t fully get it.

Looking at these clips now, I’m amazed by how much better the PC version looks compared to the PlayStation version. I don’t remember it being this clean!
What am I watching here?
This game was ahead of its time. I spent so many hours just trying to escape from the cops. I was also excited that you could smash through windows and tables in restaurants.
I couldn’t get M-rated games when I was younger, so I always played Driver instead of GTA. Loved them, especially Driver 3. The 70s vibe in Parallel Lines was amazing, I wish they’d make another game set in that time.
“It’s the cops! Get out of there.”
Flies away
I never got that far. Didn’t have the internet and had no idea what a slalom was back then…
“It’s the cops! Get out of there.” Proceeds to go into orbit

Haha, exactly!
Can you land on any roofs, or do you just glitch through them?
