Found my old Super Mario 64 save file… still chasing that rabbit in the basement!

Grew up on it too! I don’t even know if I ever beat it completely, but it was such a special game.

Had the DS version. Got to 149 out of 150 stars both times I played it. Not bad considering I didn’t have internet then!

Still remember the day I beat Bowser. My sisters watched, and we all celebrated. Core memory!

Going from the original Mario games to this was mind-blowing back then.

Does finding a Mario 64 save file mean you found the actual cartridge?

Could be an emulator. They save the files separately from the game itself.

I’ve memorized the whole game and play it in my head for free!

Ah, Mips… the sneaky little rabbit.

These tips helped me finally catch him!

Honestly, catching Mips is one of the best parts of the game. I made a separate save just for that.

Him and those water spiders… ugh :confounded:

Never got the hang of wall jumps. And getting into that underwater city was a whole other struggle.

Mario 64 is still my favorite game. It’s not super complex or heavy on lore, but it’s just the perfect 3D platformer. Nintendo knew how to make a game that everyone could enjoy, even if Mario Sunshine turned the difficulty up a bit.

@Drew
Just finished playing 3D All-Stars, and man, Sunshine is a whole other beast. Those blue coins were impossible without help!

Oh yeah, they definitely wanted you to buy the guides back then. I remember reading those booklets all the way home from the store. Good times.

Played Sunshine as a kid and somehow beat it. Now, as an adult, I wonder how I even managed it!

@Valen
We poured endless hours into those games back then. Can’t imagine doing that now.

@Valen
Our reflexes were better back then. Now I feel like I’m moving in slow motion!

I’d trap him in a dead end, then jump-slide right as he tries to run. Works every time!

The day I finally caught him was such a relief!

Brings back great memories! I got all 120 stars years later with friends. We took turns and had a blast.
