Ever had a game make other games feel lame?

Not that it made you hate the genre, but after playing it, everything else in the same category just felt… meh.

When I switched to PC and played Counter-Strike, it was so smooth and fluid that other shooters with aiming-down-sights mechanics just couldn’t compare. Games like Unreal Tournament, Quake, and TF2 with precise hip fire just felt so much better by comparison. Anyone else feel like this?

KOTOR made me wish more Star Wars fans actually knew about the Old Republic era. SWTOR scratched the itch a bit with its plots and connecting old and new stuff.

But KOTOR had those awesome action-queue combat systems that just… disappeared. Dragon Age 1 and early Mass Effect games kind of had them, but they’re gone now. I really miss that style.

@Fox
That’s classic Bioware. A hub you return to between missions, branching story paths, well-written companions—such a unique style. I miss that too.

@Fox
This is why I hate that everything Star Wars is stuck in the Skywalker saga. Even when it’s not directly about them, it’s always in their time. KOTOR showed how expansive the universe could be without relying on that era.

@Morgan
Have you checked out any of the Star Wars books from the '90s? They’re fantastic and really open up the universe in the same way. Those were what made me fall in love with Star Wars.

Yeah, KOTOR 2 especially shines because one of the writers really dived into the Star Wars literature. The depth of the lore in that game is incredible.

@Fox
Someone told me I’d love BG3 because I’m a die-hard KOTOR fan, but being a KOTOR fan kinda ruined BG3 for me. Turn-based combat feels so slow compared to action queues. I know queues wouldn’t work with large battles like BG3’s, but I’d take smaller fights with that system any day.

@Fox
Turn-based Mass Effect? Are you sure?

Sorry, I meant action-queue.

You could pause and assign actions to your squadmates, which I think is what they’re talking about.

I loved that mechanic. It gave you more control in tough fights without feeling slow.

Titanfall 2

Between the parkour, the mechs, and all the crazy gadgets, every other FPS feels so dull now.

I’m not great at FPS games but I see Titanfall 2 go on sale all the time. Is it worth grabbing?

@Remington
Totally. The single-player campaign alone is worth it, and you can still find multiplayer matches, even if it takes a little waiting.

@Remington
Got it recently and have already sunk 70 hours into it. Multiplayer is very alive and surprisingly accessible for newbies.

Titanfall’s AI wasn’t garbage like most games. Fighting players, mechs, and AI soldiers together was such a unique experience.

Same. I’ll drop everything for Titanfall 3 if it ever happens.

Slay the Spire

Other deck builders just don’t let you experiment with builds the same way. I get bored quickly because they often punish creative or slower playstyles, which kills the fun.

If you haven’t, try Griftlands. It’s not on Slay the Spire’s level but still very fun.

Have you played Monster Train?
