What was a great game but was ruined by a bad port…?

Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection… why’d they mess it up like that?!

But wasn’t it a remaster, not a port?

Yep, both games were already on PC, including on Steam. It was a remaster, technically.

Batman Arkham Knight was impossible to play on PC at launch.

Now it’s actually the best way to play it, ironically.

It looks amazing now on high-end hardware, but yeah, it was ahead of its time in a bad way. At launch, people were scrambling to find ways to get it to work at all. It definitely ruined the first experience.

@Taylor
I feel like it was just ahead of its time overall, but WB wanted to save money on the devs that did the port. As soon as Rocksteady got control again, the PC version improved.

I promised myself I’d play it on PC, having played the other Arkham games on PS3 and 360. Saved up for months, built my PC just in time for the launch, and it was the first game I bought on Steam. And of course, it barely worked. Replay was better this year, though.

The funniest part was how people got it as a promotion with Nvidia GPUs, and yet 95% of players couldn’t run it.

It was so bad that they pulled it from Steam. I was disappointed, but ended up buying another game about a white-haired monster hunter I’d never heard of. Became one of my favorite games ever.

Played it recently and still had some crashes. Had to tweak a few Nvidia settings, but then it was okay.

It’s better now, but still not an ideal port.

Glad they eventually updated it to be one of the best PC games now.

The PC version of Dark Souls was a complete nightmare.

Absolutely. Despite that, fans loved it anyway, and it helped bring more games to PC.

Now, we just need Bloodborne…

@Gale
But Sony holds the rights to Bloodborne. From Software has more freedom with their other series.

Yes, it was nearly unplayable. I think there were even some functions that had no key bindings? I refunded it right away.

@Quincy
The menu button was mapped to a controller key, so you couldn’t change settings without a controller. Just ridiculous.

Only playable with mods for me. Thankfully, Dark Souls Remastered fixed most of those issues.

Played it on Xbox 360, where Blighttown’s frame rate tanked. Getting hit by arrows at 10 FPS was beyond frustrating.
