This is Peak Gaming

Morrowind moments like these remind me why classic RPGs hit different.

Peak gaming is returning his pants six months later because you got distracted.

Poor Hentus, just standing in the river all this time. Probably wrinkly as hell now.

I want more games where the only quest directions are notes in a notebook! Morrowind is so good.

Only game where I actually used that fold-out printed map that came in the box. I miss when quests just gave you a landmark and said, ‘Good luck.’

@Kip
It’s fun until you get directions like ‘Find two cliffs in a land full of cliffs’ or ‘The dungeon you need is west of town’ (there’s only one town on the whole island).

One of the quests even gives you wrong directions to Caldera lol.

‘Go to the cave to the east.’ - Quistis

‘It’s a cave north of Mar Gaan.’ I mean, technically yeah, but…

@Jonah
‘Tomb west of Sadrith Mora.’ Proceeds to walk 40% of the map.

Gothic and Archolos also only show quest directions in the journal.

Ooh, thanks for the suggestions!

@Luca
Try Outward (on sale now for $5 on Steam if you’re on PC). It’s an open-world RPG with no player marker, and quest info is just ‘Go to Carl in Jarbo City’ or ‘Clear out the camp between Stank Valley and Garble Village.’ Some quests even have real in-game time limits. If you don’t pay your house debt in five days, you get evicted. :joy:

Honestly, my favorite game of all time. Such a unique experience. GOAT.

Yep. Combat is great once you realize it’s trying to be a simulation of tabletop RPGs and not an action game.

FINE, I’ll redownload OpenMW.

Wait, you uninstalled it?

Death.

Man, Morrowind goes so hard. Easily one of the greatest games of all time.
