The Wii U is perfect for playing Metroid. who else agrees?

Because it can play both Wii and virtual console games, the Wii U is basically a Metroid machine. You can access most of the Metroid games ever made: all 4 Metroid Prime games, the original NES Metroid, Super Metroid, Metroid Zero Mission, Metroid Fusion, and even Metroid: Other M.

The only ones missing are Metroid 2, Metroid Pinball, Federation Force, and Samus Returns, which were all for handheld systems. But with mods, you could even get Metroid 2 and Pinball working on it.

I actually got into Metroid on the Wii U and loved that it had so many games. Plus, they were really cheap! I got Metroid Prime Trilogy for just $10 when it first came out, and Super Metroid for only 30 cents.

@Lee
Wait, did it used to be cheaper or something? Where I live, Metroid Prime Trilogy was 20€ on the Wii U eShop. Still, not bad for 3 games! Wii U really is great for Metroid.

I’m in Canada, so yeah, it was $20 later on, but when they first added Wii games to the store, they were half off for the first couple of weeks. Still, even at full price, it’s a steal for 3 great games. Funny how we’ll probably have to pay full price again ($80 for me now) if they ever do an HD remaster… and I’ll probably still buy it on day one!

@Lee
Yeah, no thanks. Even if I had a Switch, I wouldn’t buy it again. Feels like a cash grab.

I totally get that. I just hope they really put some effort into it. Retro did a great job with the original trilogy, so my hopes are high.

It would be awesome to have it portable though. Imagine playing on the go!

If I’m playing on the go, I’d rather just play Samus Returns or the GBA Metroid games.

For me, the Wii U is mainly a Xenoblade Chronicles X machine. Everything else worth playing has better versions elsewhere. I love Metroid, but I’ve got the games on other platforms.

I just like having everything in one place. Makes life easier.

@Ainsley
That’s totally fair. It’s great for that!

Same here. I bought my Wii U specifically for Xenoblade X, and I only have X and Breath of the Wild on it. Even though I don’t play BOTW much, it was worth buying the console just for Xenoblade.

Wait, all 4 Metroid Prime games? Does this mean they’re releasing Prime 4 for Wii U?

I think they’re counting Metroid Prime Hunters?

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for clearing that up!

Yeah, they’re probably including Hunters in that count.

Thanks for the heads-up! Also, love your username by the way. :slight_smile:

Yep, Hunters is included. And with the Wii U gamepad, it’s probably the most precise FPS I’ve ever played on a console.
