Because it can play both Wii and virtual console games, the Wii U is basically a Metroid machine. You can access most of the Metroid games ever made: all 4 Metroid Prime games, the original NES Metroid, Super Metroid, Metroid Zero Mission, Metroid Fusion, and even Metroid: Other M.
The only ones missing are Metroid 2, Metroid Pinball, Federation Force, and Samus Returns, which were all for handheld systems. But with mods, you could even get Metroid 2 and Pinball working on it.
I actually got into Metroid on the Wii U and loved that it had so many games. Plus, they were really cheap! I got Metroid Prime Trilogy for just $10 when it first came out, and Super Metroid for only 30 cents.
@Lee
Wait, did it used to be cheaper or something? Where I live, Metroid Prime Trilogy was 20€ on the Wii U eShop. Still, not bad for 3 games! Wii U really is great for Metroid.

I’m in Canada, so yeah, it was $20 later on, but when they first added Wii games to the store, they were half off for the first couple of weeks. Still, even at full price, it’s a steal for 3 great games. Funny how we’ll probably have to pay full price again ($80 for me now) if they ever do an HD remaster… and I’ll probably still buy it on day one!
For me, the Wii U is mainly a Xenoblade Chronicles X machine. Everything else worth playing has better versions elsewhere. I love Metroid, but I’ve got the games on other platforms.

I just like having everything in one place. Makes life easier.

Same here. I bought my Wii U specifically for Xenoblade X, and I only have X and Breath of the Wild on it. Even though I don’t play BOTW much, it was worth buying the console just for Xenoblade.
