The PS5 Pro announcement is a major letdown

No controller upgrade, no extra functions, and no disc drive. The capacity to Narrow the decision between fidelity and performance was the only feature they displayed, and the cost is high, especially without a disc drive. I am very sure I will continue to use the original PS5. Does anyone else feel let down? Top cherry, no new games.

Uh-oh, is Sony getting overconfident again?

Remember after the PS2 era, they thought they were untouchable. They launched the PS3 at a high price with few games, and it took nearly the whole console generation for the PS3 to make a comeback.

And significant price reductions, I should add. It seems absurd to me that after over 4 years of release, the base PS5 model has seen no change in price but rather an increase.

It’s crazy how I bought a PS5 in 2021, and it was actually cheaper than it is now Just my luck. :sunglasses:

If my memory serves me well, during that time they had made a few minor changes that would justifiably justify a tiny price rise.

Sony has completely lost their mind.

This is giving me flashbacks to the PS3 reveal, with its $500/$600 price tag and that ridiculous giant crab scene for “massive damage!”

What was $499 in 2006 is now over $788. $599, or almost $930.

It provides context for the prices from time to time, but it doesn’t excuse anything.

Inflation aside, the PS3 also included a Blu-ray player, which was easily an $800+ device at the time, so if you wanted to watch Blu-rays, buying a PS3 was the most affordable option.

This time around, there isn’t even a disc drive to make the deal sweeter :innocent:

This is the appropriate response. Although pricey, the blueray was a great feature at the time.
