Tf is with this ad? Who needs a game where a system decides everything?

This game ad has been spamming my reddit for the past few months. Wtf is the tag lime? Why would anyone wish to play anything completely based on luck? What sort of bs is this?

Ooh, an ad delivery system with no player interaction? Fancy.

Exactly!! If everything is luck-based, why bother playing it!!

Wait until you see the Monopoly Go players… It’s literally just hitting a dice roll button over and over with other “luck” based mini-games sprinkled in.

@Mica
It’s also the most profitable (percentage-wise) of all of Hasbro’s properties, and that includes Magic the Gathering.

You could say, heh, that game holds a monopoly.

@Mica
I played it before when I tried mistplay* it’s so dull, and the destruction of other players’ progress which you can’t control to incite fake rivalry (and to stop people leveling up too fast) is a terrible game design.
(*it’s real but incredibly slow to build up, and don’t forget to manually turn off the screen recording once you’re done with the games)

rolls for response Because people enjoy getting lucky. One of the most popular mods of all time for Minecraft is LuckyBlocks, boxes that you break open for a random result, could give you diamonds, could put you in a cage and burn you in lava. There are entire YouTube series based around this mod.

@Phoenix
Yeah, but it’s still Minecraft, how you deal with the rest of the game is led by player decisions, and you have a choice within the mod how much you interact with it, and how you respond to what you get.
If the whole game is random, there’s nothing to interact with.

Wait until you hear about slot machines.

@Clay
This game isn’t a potential money payout.

For a lot of gamblers the money is only a small part of it. People become addicted to the point they can’t stop even when they’ve ruined their lives with their losses.
The reason why so many games have loot packs and such is because people will spend real money just to have a chance at items you used to be able to unlock by playing said game. Some people play mobile slot games that don’t pay out anything.
It’s just the way some are wired.

The answer is to feel the rush of a win. It’s not a new idea. People sit at slot machines for hours to chase after that feeling. People buy boxes of collectible cards and unwrap them for it. Losses are depersonalized as the system fucking you. Wins are personalized as your luck and cunning. In this way, you are always a winner, even when losing, and you feel you merely need to persevere for the outcome to align with your truth.

Because gambling can be fun? I agree it’s not for everyone, but the gambling industry is pretty big.
Have you never won a fight out of a lucky crit, for example?
