This game has a way of making you feel like it’s on your side… even if it terrifies you. Some games offer fun through great storytelling or action. Alien: Isolation does it by scaring you, but not in a frustrating way. I realized this after a while during my first playthrough. The first part felt like a huge dread fest, but once I understood the game’s pace, it clicked, and I finished it loving the experience. It’s the type of game where you don’t mind dying because you’re not losing much progress. The save points are frequent enough to make you feel like the game isn’t out to ruin you. It just wants you to be scared, then keep going. You don’t have to be perfect, and I think that’s why it’s so great. It’s genuinely terrifying but it’s designed to make you want to keep pushing forward. If you’re into a challenge and can handle some anxiety, Alien: Isolation is an experience you shouldn’t miss.
This is one of those games I wish I could play for the first time again. It took me a couple tries to really get the hang of it and finally finish it, but it was totally worth it.

I haven’t played it yet, but it’s been on my list.
@Henry
I’d totally recommend it! At first, it’s super intense, but once you figure out how to avoid the alien, it gets a bit easier. The crafting system is neat, and the story is good too. But honestly, the alien is the star. I wouldn’t spoil it, but the AI is super smart, which makes the whole thing way scarier.
@Henry
I’ve been thinking of playing it in VR but I’m a bit of a scaredy-cat, even though I bought it already haha.
I was almost done with the game when an alien popped out, and I screamed so loud my hands clenched, hitting both triggers on my controller. That’s when I found out the flamethrower can make the alien back off. Think I got one or two more chances to use it before finishing.
@Ripley
Lmao. I tried the flamethrower too. I was like, ‘YES! I’m the boss now!’ But then the alien came right back and crushed my hopes.
Sometimes the game feels unclear, especially when figuring out who’s a friend or enemy. The game could make things like activating androids or flipping switches a bit clearer.
I stopped playing when I had to go 50 minutes without a save point. I understand the idea, but it felt too long, so I’m not sure about those sections.

Oof, that sounds really frustrating! I don’t think I ran into anything like that. But I heard if you try to rush a checkpoint, the alien might mess with you.
@Nico
I did make it to the save point, but it felt so stressful I didn’t want to go through that again. I might have played too cautiously, though.
It’s such a great game! It’s tough at times, but when you finally reach a save point, it feels so rewarding. As you go through the game, you also get better at surviving by crafting, finding new weapons, and figuring out the best hiding spots. I think the save points add to the tension, especially after a big battle. You just want another save point after that.

There are some really great scenes in it. If you’re ever bored, check out a stream of someone playing it with a facecam. Watching others freak out is almost as fun as playing it yourself!

I’m not really into jumpscare games, they feel cheap to me. But Alien: Isolation isn’t like that. The tension and atmosphere are amazing. I think there’s maybe one or two jumpscares, but it’s more about the alien stalking you.

The AI in this game is really impressive. The game uses two AIs—the director that tracks your movements, and the alien that reacts to your actions. The more you hide or make noise, the more the alien learns about you. The AI gets smarter as you progress, and it’s both cool and terrifying to see how it reacts.
This game gave me headaches, but I can’t deny it was memorable.
The save points were a bit too frequent for me, and the beeping sound was annoying. I hated the nest level too, but still a solid 9/10 for me.
I’ve just started getting into survival horror games. I never cared about them before, but after playing RE7 & RE8 in VR, I’m hooked. I get what you mean about that feeling of dread before playing. It took me a while to get comfortable, but now I’m having a blast. My best tip is to just die a few times to get rid of that dread. You’ll know what’s coming next.
Does playing on easy make the game more fun, or does it make the alien less scary?
