Manor Lords update news – Two New Maps, Building Upgrades, Water and Ale Distribution Tweaks, Marketplace Overhaul… What’s new with the filters?

Hey everyone, just a quick preview of the new updates coming to Manor Lords. Two new maps, building upgrades, changes to how ale and water are distributed, and a complete overhaul of the marketplace system, including new filters for better management. Seems like a lot of interesting improvements coming our way… anyone else looking forward to this update?

Would be cool to trade and have an economy with other player-made towns. The closest thing I’ve seen to this was the trading carts in Age of Empires 2, haha.

The Anno series has something like that.

@Eliot
Is it connected in real-time though?

Yeah, if you’re playing co-op online. At least that’s how I remember it. Been a while since I played Anno though.

Cool, sounds fun!

In Anno 1800, it’s all real-time, with multiple map tiles. You can settle on several islands and there’s even some naval combat.

Yeah, if you like the old games like Anno 1404, you can get them on GOG and play offline. The newer games have DRM though and need Ubisoft’s launcher.

The trading carts were just a distraction for me while I waited for my petards to show up.

I’m really enjoying this game, it’s filling the Banished itch for me. Can’t wait for this update!

I’ve been waiting for the full release of this game. Do you guys think this Early Access is taking too long?

It went into Early Access in April. I mean, some games take way longer than that to develop. I wouldn’t say this is too long.

@Shan
I get it, but it seems like there have barely been any feature updates since it went into Early Access. The dev is cool but maybe struggling a bit with funding?

He’s probably doing alright now, considering the success. Who knows, maybe that newfound wealth will change the direction of the game, but it’s still in development!

@Cameron
Well, after that success, he hired several people, so a big chunk of that money is probably going toward paying developer salaries. So I think the game will still get worked on.

Honestly, it’s not even been a year, and we’ve seen new features, some balancing, and a new engine (UE5). Plus, there’s an update soon with a new map and some features. I think it’s already doing better than some AAA Early Access games.

Isn’t this just a one-man project? Maybe enjoy the slow pace while it grows.

@Ash
It was, but since he signed with a publisher, he has some help now.

@Ash
It’s not just him anymore. He has a team now.

I think it’s a bit too late for this game. It was overhyped and the release was disappointing. The game was nice looking but barely worked as a colony sim. Half of the troops didn’t even do anything at launch. It felt like it peaked too soon.
