Just finished playing the first 4 Uncharted games… is it as good as people say?

I had such a love/hate relationship with these games. Amazing set pieces, but I really hated the combat. Felt like filler to me.

I see where you’re coming from.

This forum seems to just echo opinions, huh?

What would you want instead of combat in between the cutscenes? Or do you think it’s just part of the game?

@Merrick
Let me put it this way—amazing set pieces, but I didn’t enjoy the repetitive combat. The game just had too many waves of enemies.

Fair point. A lot of games have similar gameplay loops. I wouldn’t say Uncharted is that much worse, though.

@Merrick
True. The characters, story, and set pieces were so good that I pushed through, even though I wasn’t a fan of the combat.

I get that. I really enjoy the stealth elements in the game, too. It adds a nice variety. Overall, I just love these games. Can’t wait to see what Naughty Dog does next.

I played 1 and 2, and a bit of 3. I didn’t know much about these games before, and I was surprised by the supernatural parts. The story and gameplay were fun, but didn’t live up to what I expected. Felt a bit too familiar. Some of the characters and plot points reminded me of other games or movies. I barely remember what happened in Uncharted 2. I feel like I’m just a bit too late for Uncharted.

@Brogan
I think the familiar parts are part of what makes Uncharted great. It’s like an interactive adventure movie, with vibes from Indiana Jones and Tintin. The supernatural stuff does divide people though.

@Robin
I actually liked the supernatural parts the most!

@Brogan
It’s a shame to hear that, but yeah, I think they’re definitely a product of their time. That train scene in Uncharted 2 was incredible when it first came out!

@Brogan
Finish the series! Uncharted 4 is definitely the best when it comes to both writing and gameplay.

I finished the first game, and it was okay. Tried getting into the second one, but it felt too padded with boring platforming that didn’t really challenge me. A lot of it felt like it was just there to make the game longer, not for fun. I really didn’t like the pre-determined climbing system, I hope that never comes back in games.

I couldn’t even finish the first one, it was awful.

The later games are way better. At least try Uncharted 2, it’s a huge step up.

The first one got high ratings back then, but I felt tricked. Fool me once.
