If a loading screen has interesting stuff, you should have to press a button to continue

Loading screens are often too short now, making it impossible to read interesting lore, game tips, or admire artwork. Ultimate Dreadnought Admirals, for example, has historical ship facts that disappear before I can finish reading.

This seems especially common in historical games, but even games with rich lore do it. I get that faster load times are great, but having an option to press a button to continue would be a simple fix.

It’s not a huge issue, but neither is adding an option for those who want to take their time.

We went from full paper manuals to manuals on loading screens to loading screens that last 2 seconds.

Games load so fast now we can’t even read the tips anymore. Lmao.

Wiping our eyes with spare cash because our PCs are too fast. :joy:

Like A Dragon has loading screen tips, but on PS5, I can barely read three words before it’s gone.

Yeah, I went back to Fallout 4 and had the same issue. ‘Oh that’s int—’ and it’s gone.

I have no idea what tips #3-17 say during Nine Sols loading screens. :sob:

I’ve had this issue with Discord forever. They flash up an interesting fact or tip for half a second, and then BLOOP—gone.

Totally agree! Maybe they should make loading screens interactive? Like a trivia question or a minigame.

Like minigames in Budokai Tenkaichi!

Yes! Vegeta doing pushups, Goku eating, and Gohan doing chores were perfect little touches.

I forget which game did this, but I loved having a ‘Press Button to Continue’ on loading screens. You could read at your own pace or just walk away while it loads.

Total War used to have a sound cue when loading was done, so you could alt-tab and do something else until you heard ‘SEGA!’

Sounds like you need an old-school HDD. /s

Okami had a loading screen minigame where you could earn valuable items. The remasters load so fast you can’t even play it anymore. :sob:

This should be a settings option: Auto-continue or ‘Press Button to Continue.’

OMG, playing PS4 games on a PS5 is the worst for this. Whether it’s lore or tips—poof gone in half a second. :joy:

Ironically, I’d probably just mash the button and miss the info anyway.

Some games NEED this. I swear, Total War used to give you a quote and translation, and now you just have to hope it repeats so you can read the rest of it.

I hate when I have to press a button to continue—I’ll be sitting there waiting, thinking it’s still loading. But I’d support a toggle in the settings.
