Only text characters were capable of the ZX81’s sophisticated effects, visuals were not.
It had a very poor resolution, but it could still produce graphics. A BASIC PLOT command was available. Superfans may have attained a high resolution, but that was the result of some unseen dark magic in the assembler.
Plot, however, just positioned ROM characters in predetermined spots throughout the screen. Like other computers like the PET did with its PETSCII set or games like Rogue, which are only text characters, it is still simply text and not images. Furthermore, why has not Rogue been updated? A million and one Roguelikes exist, but Rogue is still around since the 1980s.
The Amiga version was ported to switch with some qol upgrades
I had no idea there was an Amiga version. About fifteen years ago, I played the Linux version of Rogue and can still remember hunting for different versions of the game. I must investigate it. Thanks guys for Insights
Sharing games with pals was a breeze during the Casette period.
