@Adler
Yep, copyright says 1996-2003. That site’s a fossil.

Crazy that their website is still up and looks exactly like it did back then. Feels like stepping into a time machine.
What’s the website?
Yeah, it says ‘Next-stop’ at the bottom.
This post just sent me straight back to the 90s. Feels like time travel.

Played this nonstop as a kid. The level design was ahead of its time.

Go click around on that old website from the disk… it’ll really hit you.

It’s funny how one old website or sound effect can bring back so many memories.
This looks like one of those shareware disks they sold at computer fairs in the 90s. ROTT came out in 1995 through Apogee (now 3D Realms), and the full version had a retail box and a manual. This is probably just the shareware version with the first few levels. ‘Next Stop Computing’ was probably a small business reselling shareware at those fairs.
@Voss
I still have my original Wolfenstein floppy from a computer show. Those shows were amazing before the internet took over.
@Voss
Yeah, back then a lot of places sold shareware games in generic packaging like this. Sometimes even in ziplock bags!
@Voss
By the way, there’s another ‘Apogee’ now that publishes indie games. The original founder works there, but he didn’t start it. The 3D Realms that exists today is actually based in Denmark and owned by Embracer Group.
This game had some crazy weapons. Loved it!

Lol, I always laughed at the typo… ‘TRAID’ instead of ‘TRIAD’!

Did you know they remastered it recently?

Yep, and that’s how I learned who John Woo was lol.
I used to play this at my dad’s office on weekends. We’d set up LAN games in the empty cubicles with his coworkers and their kids. Multiplayer was absolutely insane!
We also played Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, and Doom 2.
Those were the best times!
@Oswin
That sounds amazing!
