Donnie Yen confirms Sleeping Dogs movie canceled… no more hope?

Honestly, a TV series might’ve been better than a movie. Also, am I the only one who thought Donnie Yen was too old to play Wei Shen?

No, but what would’ve been better is a damn sequel game! Square Enix really dropped the ball. Instead of giving us a proper follow-up, they wasted time on a failed mobile game.

Yeah, Donnie Yen is way too old.

Wei too old.

He’s definitely old. The movie was announced in 2017—Donnie was already 54 then. If they ever make a show, it better be in Cantonese.

@Nori
Wait, who’s Korean? Donnie Yen is Chinese.

Will Yun Lee, the voice actor for Wei Shen in the game. He’s Korean.

Honestly, Andrew Koji would’ve been a much better Wei Shen. Simu Liu as Winston, and Jimmy O. Yang as Jackie Ma. That would’ve been perfect.

Sleeping Dogs felt like an old-school Hong Kong crime movie in game form. If you’re into that style, there are tons of classics to check out.

True, but the game stands out because it’s so polished. We don’t need a movie; we need a sequel.

The game’s mechanics were so ahead of its time. It was incredibly well-made.

Didn’t think my day could get worse, but here we are. This was the last bit of hope for Sleeping Dogs getting revived. Sad day.

I honestly forgot the movie was even greenlit. Still sucks it’s not happening, though. I would’ve watched it for sure.

This is so disappointing. The game itself feels like a movie—it could’ve been amazing.

I loved this game way more than I expected. It’s a true underrated gem. Forget the movie; give us another game!

This is why I don’t trust announcements. Just because something gets greenlit doesn’t mean it’ll ever see the light of day.

It’s a decade-old game with no sequels, no spin-offs, nothing. Just one great game and that’s it.

On the bright side, at least the franchise has no bad sequels or spinoffs. It’s 1/1, a perfect legacy.

What a waste of potential.
