@Mars
Definitely. It’s not like Sony, where you’re just stuck after downloading the game. Steam makes it a bit easier, at least.

Doesn’t Steam have a good refund policy for stuff like this?
Even though Steam’s refund process is pretty smooth, it’s a hassle. And with games that link to other services like Ubisoft or Activision, it can get even trickier.
@Micah
So true! And sometimes, linking those accounts just complicates everything.

Good for Steam Deck users! So many games block Linux users, it’s about time.
Is it really a lot of devs blocking Linux, or just a few big publishers? Either way, it’s annoying.
@Jaden
Check out areweanticheatyet.com. Weirdly enough, some anti-cheats could support Linux, but devs just don’t enable it. Maybe they’re getting incentives from companies like Microsoft.

Are these anti-cheat systems even effective?
@Vega
Not really. They rarely stop serious cheaters.

Our Gabe, who art in Bellevue, hallowed be thy games. Thy Deck come, thy will be done… bring us our Linux heaven.

The day Steam goes public, PC gaming as we know it dies. They’re the last ones who really look out for us players.
Hold on. GOG’s out here being super anti-DRM. They’re way more consumer-friendly than Steam, honestly.
@Sam
No DRM is ideal, but Steam’s is so low-key you hardly notice it. It’s one reason PC gaming has stayed strong, honestly.
Thank goodness. I hate installing kernel anti-cheat. It feels like a huge security risk… but yeah, games like Tarkov need some way to handle the cheaters.

Forcing kernel anti-cheat for single-player stuff is just ridiculous. At least now we’ll know beforehand.
@Tamsin
Exactly! If it’s single-player, why the extreme anti-cheat measures? Moving to GOG sounds better every day.

Anti-cheats are fighting a losing battle. Better to put all the crucial stuff on servers and keep the client as simple as possible.
Another W for Steam.

Exactly. Devs shouldn’t be sneaking that stuff into our PCs.
What’s kernel mode anti-cheat? Why does it matter to gamers?
