Did the NY Times just call out Elon Musk for fake gamer vibes

Looks like the NY Times is claiming Elon Musk is pretending to be a top gamer. They talk about him gaming for hours and some weird flexes like being the first American druid in Diablo.

Shivon Zilis shared a post about Elon playing Diablo for 17 hours on Christmas. She says he spent time with the kids but was ‘too excited to sleep’ because of the game. Who even says stuff like this?

Pretty sure she’s not his spouse. She’s had kids with him through IVF. It’s like he outsources fatherhood just like everything else.

Honestly, being ‘abandoned’ by him might be the best-case scenario for anyone involved with him.

@Noor
Fair point. It makes her comment seem way more believable now.

Honestly, that part of her post was the least surprising to me.

If this guy needs a break, maybe he should take one far away from the kids during his “gaming marathons.”

The man’s known for having kids without actually being a parent. There’s a difference, and he clearly doesn’t get it.

She gets to spend his money without having to spend time with him. Sounds like a win for her, honestly.

Musk has been faking it for years. Buying accounts, paying for gear—it’s not rocket science. But the real problem? The rules don’t apply to him. I got banned from Counter-Strike back in the day for hacks. Where’s the consistency?

@Jem
Big streamers and famous people get away with everything. Game companies don’t care as long as it doesn’t mess with their profits. Bans are usually just PR stunts anyway.

Exactly. Banning cheaters is good PR, but it’s also extra money for the developers when the cheaters buy new accounts. It’s a win-win for them.

What does this have to do with anything? Are we going full conspiracy now?

@Dakota
I don’t even understand your comment. Care to clarify?

@Jem
Taking credit for others’ work is basically his whole thing. It’s probably the only thing he’s truly skilled at.

Elon Musk is just Steve Jobs 2.0—a great marketer pretending to be an innovator.

@Zen
At least Jobs didn’t have this kind of ego trip. In comparison, he was a saint next to Elon.

Right? People hyped Jobs way too much, but at least he didn’t pretend to be something he wasn’t.

@Zen
Not true. Employees from SpaceX and Tesla say Musk works insane hours and leads by example. He’s not just a figurehead.

Didn’t PayPal employees admit they had to create a fake codebase for Elon to mess with so he wouldn’t ruin the actual product?
