Seeing how Mario has become such a funny character, it got me thinking…did Nintendo plan this all along?
All those words just to say Mario RPGs are hilarious! Playing the SNES remake now and still loving it.
Nah, Nintendo’s greatest trick is charging full price for games they released ages ago…and people still pay it.

Actually, it’s charging full price for games released decades ago and people still pay it.
@Vesper
So what game made you add the “s” to decade? Mario Kart maybe? It’s like 11+ years old and still $60!

Mario Kart 8 is almost 11 years old and still $60. Same with DKC Tropical Freeze, Pikmin 3, Skyward Sword…Nintendo just keeps them at full price.
@Harmon
At least Nintendo tweaks stuff when they re-release them. Look at Rockstar and their Red Dead Redemption re-release.

True, but adding 4K and 30fps on Red Dead feels like a bigger upgrade than just adding Funky Kong in Tropical Freeze. And let’s be real, some of these games were cheaper before they got re-released on Switch!
@Harmon
What’s the issue? These are top-tier games…polished, no bugs, no microtransactions. They still play great after all these years.

Other companies lower their prices over time, though. I got Dark Souls 3 for like $6 after a few years. Nintendo’s just squeezing every penny they can, and it’s annoying!

Old GameCube and Wii games still go for $60+. Wind Waker, Melee…all the classics!
@Ray
Honestly, just get a Wii and emulate them. The Dolphin emulator makes them look pretty good on a PC.

I actually bought a Wii after finding my old GameCube games. Plays both Wii and GameCube games and cheaper too!

And let’s not forget, they make incredible games. It’s a unique business model…strong second-hand market and people who actually want their games!
@Mika
Exactly. People might complain, but Nintendo keeps the quality high, which means we get great games on old franchises.

Strange how some games, like Metal Gear Solid IV, are unavailable for years even though people would love to play them again.
@Kendall
Pretty sure that’s coming in the next Metal Gear collection.

Point still stands. Nintendo makes old games more accessible sometimes, even though some classics are still stuck on older systems.
@Kendall
I wouldn’t say Nintendo is any better. Lots of great games are still locked away on older hardware.

You’re moving the goalposts. I’m just saying they sometimes re-release games we actually want to play.
