Batman Arkham Asylum… was this the best intro ever?

The intro of this game left a lasting impression on me. It sets the tone perfectly and draws you in immediately. Anyone else feel the same?

I’ve been wanting to try this! Played through City and Knight but never touched Asylum. Got it cheap during a sale. Does it hold up today?

You’re in for a ride! Asylum paved the way for the greatness of City and Knight.

Asylum > City > Knight > Origins

Asylum nailed the story and voice acting, plus the riddler puzzles were real riddles! City streamlined them a bit but still good. Knight? Over-reliant on the Batmobile and some frustrating sections.

The combat system in this game changed everything. It’s amazing how many other games copied it.

I feel like Prince of Persia: Sands of Time started the trend, Assassin’s Creed tweaked it (but less fluid), and Arkham Asylum perfected it. It allowed way more freedom in movement compared to AC.

@Denver
Sands of Time was ahead of its time, but the combat was a bit clunky due to everything happening at once—parkour, fighting, even rewinding time. Arkham’s system feels smoother. You hit a button, Batman leaps into action. They added counters and gadgets, making it simple yet stylish. Here’s a short video explaining why it works so well: https://youtu.be/Guz0DEWI6nM

@Dawson
Thanks! I’ll check it out later. Arkham’s combat was so fun and satisfying. Assassin’s Creed, on the other hand, got boring after a few fights. Let’s see what this video says.

I’ve never played any of these. Where should I start?

Start with this one. Then play Arkham City (even better), then Origins (not perfect but decent), and finish with Arkham Knight. Avoid newer ones, though—they’re bad.

Funny how this game inspired one of the weirdest forums ever.

Is Arkham Origins worth playing? It looks a bit cartoony compared to the others.

If you like the other Arkham games, you’ll enjoy Origins too.

I think so. Not as strong as Asylum or City, but still solid. Better than some give it credit for.

Yes, definitely worth it. Some boss fights are excellent too.

The Deathstroke boss fight alone makes it worth playing.

It’s the weakest of the series but has some cool moments. Just don’t expect much from the combat.

One of the best Joker lines: “Need to check my temperature, doc? I’ll drop my pants!”

This game was incredible. I need to replay it someday.
