The gameplay feels a bit old, but the story and writing are incredible. It’s dark, full of betrayal, and feels like an epic poem.
I tried Blood Omen recently, but I didn’t like the first one. Blood Omen 2 was fun though. Are these connected?

Yep, they’re connected. You play as Kain in Blood Omen and Raziel in Soul Reaver.

The order goes Blood Omen, Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, Blood Omen 2, and then Defiance.
