There just aren’t many if any studios quite on their stride like Remedy at the moment. What an exceptional DLC. If anyone here has yet to give it a shot I’d strongly recommend it.
Agreed, Remedy’s on fire lately. The Lake House DLC was a masterpiece pure storytelling and atmosphere.
No one can do atmosphere like Remedy.
I’ve never played AW or AW2 but I am playing Control for the first time and it’s been fun.
Big AW fan here. I really enjoyed The Lake House and it makes me excited for Control 2. That said, my fave of the DLC stories was Number One Fan in the Night Springs DLC.

Number One Fan was also perfect lmao. I was rolling how good it was
At first I was like “Aw cute, they’re a science couple” and then shit went south fast

Yeah how their relationship played out was wild
!At the end, Diana bludgeoning in Jules’ face was horrifying. Just smiling as she kept hitting his face in with a rock over and over. In my head, I compared that scene to how brutally Kratos kills his enemies in GOW. Diana’s felt SO MUCH WORSE because she kept mushing his face waaaaay beyond killing him!<
I got it for Christmas, along with Dead Space and Silent Hill 2. Finished Dead Space and almost finished with Silent Hill. Looking forward to Alan Wake 2
Is the dlc also full of jumpscares?

I can’t say why but I found this dlc substantially more stressful to play than the main game
@Arley
It’s the bureau location. It’s creepy. In control, you at least know you’re powerful. Even when something jumps out at you. Not the case in the lake house.

If you consider >!the sudden flashes of people yelling!< in the main game to be the jump scares of concern, no. There is one type of monster that will scare the shit out of you before you figure out how to look out for them, but you could also just look that up and you’ll be fine. Remedy also offers all kinds of adjustments to make their games easier or less frightening.

Yeah it still has a few
Alan Wake 2 was a game that took a minute for me to click (as did Control) because of the controls, funky mechanics, a certain unique approach to level design, etc. I’ve been worried that getting the rust off and starting the Lake House after not playing for a while would be a big barrier to actually enjoying it.
Did you play straight through, or finish the base game long before the DLC?
@Zev
You play as Federal Bureau of Control Agent Estevez before she is in contact with anyone in the main game, so there’s nothing you need to remember from the main game to get into it. It can pretty much stand alone. However, I think it really shines if you happened to have played Control already.
@Zev
I dont think you’ll have any rust issues. Its a pretty solid stand alone experience, as was the other DLCs which were also amazing
@Zev
I tried to play it long after the base game and I got fed up and stopped.
Pending ‘skill issue’ comments. But yes, my patience ran out before I got back in to the controls/mechanics.
Those painting monsters were cool, straight out of Resident Evil.
