Age of Darkness: Final Stand is out of Early Access… now 65% off!

Just saw that Age of Darkness is officially out of Early Access and on sale for 65% off. Anyone played the full version yet? How’s the multiplayer?

It’s such a fun game, really gives off ‘They Are Billions’ vibes. Super excited to try multiplayer.

How does the multiplayer work in this? Co-op? Competitive?

It’s only $10 right now with the discount! Full campaign and multiplayer included. Great deal.

What’s multiplayer like? Is it co-op where you share resources or more of a competitive mode?

@Freddie
It’s a survival mode where each player has their own town hall, hero, and resources. You basically work together to survive.

Is this game actually good? I like this style a lot, but launching out of Early Access with a 65% sale makes me kinda suspicious.

It’s actually a smart strategy. Steam treats a 1.0 launch like a fresh start, so a big discount helps it sell more, which boosts visibility on the platform. Plus, it’s likely already made enough money during Early Access to fund development.

It’s fun but tough! You’ll need good micromanagement for both units and resources. Some of the nightmare waves in the mid-game can overwhelm you if you’re not prepared. Definitely worth playing through at least once. It’ll take you 15-30 hours to beat your first map.

What’s ‘The Stand’ in the title about?

It’s just the name of the game. Also kind of reminds me of that Stephen King book.

Wait, there’s multiplayer now? I played this a couple of years ago and liked it, but I couldn’t get super into it. Sounds like they’ve added a lot since then—I’m picking this up after work.

Can someone link the patch notes? I can’t find them anywhere.

Great game for old RTS players like me who can’t keep up with 1v1 ladders anymore. It’s challenging but doesn’t feel punishing.

It really captures that 1v1 stress but in a single-player format. Honestly refreshing.

I loved ‘They Are Billions,’ but at higher difficulty, it became more about micromanaging units and kiting enemies than actual base building. How does ‘Age of Darkness’ compare?

Never heard of this before (apparently it’s been in Early Access for four years). Just picked it up since I love survival RTS games. Played a few campaign missions so far—it’s decent, though survival mode seems to be the real focus.

I like it overall, but the controls feel a little awkward. Wish I could use WASD to move the map, and having ‘Enter’ as the build menu is strange. Still, it’s got a fun vibe, like discovering a random game as a kid and getting hooked.

I just wish the heroes had more unique mechanics. Like, I wanted the Volatist to feel more like a virus—taking corruption and turning it into your own strength. Still, the game is fun, and I love the survival aspects. It’s like a mix of old-school RTS and modded Warcraft 3 maps.

It’s a shame this isn’t on consoles. Real gamers need a PS5 version!
